Is tú mo ghrá (I Love You)

Is tú mo ghrá /Iss two muh guhraw/ - means I love you in Irish Gaelic language.

My husband is Irish and my son's name is Devlin, which is Irish Gaelic and means brave or fierce.  So, to honor St. Patrick's Day and my husband's heritage ... I made him a little gift set. 

NOTE:  The designer paper you see here is a retired collection.  Unfortunately, you can no longer purchase it, but I had a few pieces left and it worked perfectly for my project.

You'll see, beneath a piece of vellum, a home-made shamrock.  I used the Darling Dots (hostess level 1) and Trendy Trees (the stem) stamp sets to create it.  Inside the tin, which is an altered watch gift box - is one green Hostess Sno-Ball.  My husband has a sweet tooth so I thought that would fit the bill just right!

I used this simple card sketch for my layout.  Following sketches has really amped up my card-making abilities.

Tonight, we'll be going out for fondue at The Melting Pot.  They are having a special St. Patrick's Day menu.  My husband & I have both been on Weight Watchers since the beginning of this year, so this will surely be a nice treat.

Over the weekend, I participated in the Splitcoaststampers inspiration challenge (IC169).  I chose these notecards to the left, as my inspiration piece.

My favorite way to stamp is clean and simple... and that's what caught my eye with these cards.

For my Kreation, I used Stampin' Up!'s Urban Oasis designer series paper and coordinating In Colors Baja Breeze & Kiwi Kiss.

I cut out four 5" x 5" pieces of textured cardstock (Baja Breeze & Kiwi Kiss), then mounted a piece of 4 3/4" x 4 3/4" Whisper White cardstock to the base.

Here's where the Urban Oasis comes in ... I cut a 4 3/4" x 1 1/2" strip to mount along the side (just like the inspiration photo).  I then stamped the oh so cool flower image from the Three Little Words set, and chose a different sentiment for each notecard. TIP:  Use the Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfectly aligned images every time.

The grand finale is a piece of Baja Breeze Double Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon (this ribbon is a whopping 1" wide and I love it!).  You'll also see a filigree designer brad dangling from the ribbon, and in the center is a clear rhinestone from the pretties kit. 

NOTE:  The double stitched grosgrain ribbon also comes in the colors - Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip, and Rose Red.
