Thanks a Bunch!

My son's 5th birthday party was a hit over the weekend.  We had about 16 kids and 18 adults show up.  And so now, I am finalizing my birthday party projects with this funky monkey thank you card.

I wanted to come up with something cute (but simple) to pass out to the people that celebrated with us.

I strayed from the pirate theme and went a completely different direction using the sets "Sock Monkey" and "Simple Birthday Thanks" (see image of this set at end of post). 

On the front of the card, I stamped Mr. Monkey in Close to Cocoa ink and added a bunch of bright Summer Sun bananas.  A basic sentiment, thanks a bunch! sums up just how we feel about the generosity of the families that attended his bash.

On the back of the card, I inked the center portion of "Simple Birthday Thanks" (also in Close to Cocoa). 

I will fill in the child's name, description of gift and have Devlin sign all 12 thank you's. 

This might be a daunting task for a 5 year old - but I'm going to attempt it.  It's always fun to see my little guy's penmanship.

Red Velvet Wishes

Raise your hand if you love cupcakes!

For today’s Kreation, I participated in the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge (IC136)

If you visit Cupcakes of Vancouver, you’ll see the Red Velvet cupcake I chose as my inspiration.  It’s a red cocoa cake topped with a cream cheese frosting and dusted with white sugar. 

To translate that sugary goodness onto paper, I used my Chocolate Chip classic Stampin’ Ink Pad on Riding Hood Red card stock (new In Color available for purchase August 11).

I inked up the little cupcake from the new “Sock Monkey” stamp set and very carefully trimmed it out.  The frosting is stamped on Very Vanilla card stock, then covered in versamark and sparkly sprinkles (Hologram Highlight embossing powder), and finally set using my Stampin’ Up! heat tool.

To create the focal point, I punched out a piece of Pink Pirouette card stock using my tab punch, mounted a 1 ¼” punched circle, then popped up a 1” circle of Very Vanilla using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The Designer Series Paper I used for the bottom portion of the card is from the Hostess Level III bundle, called Holiday Happenings.  It’s Chocolate Chip with little Pink Pirouette polka dots.  Finally, the top edge of the Kraft colored card base got the new scallop border punch treatment.  This new tool is definitely a “must have”... 

The sentiment is from the soon to be released "Heard from the Heart" stamp set and is also inked in Chocolate Chip.

Oh, and about that silly sock monkey above... he was my Kreation for today's sketch challenge (SC184).  He is paper pieced using the Holiday Happenings Designer Series paper and Pink Pirouette cardstock (one of the new In Colors).  The stamp set used is another upcoming release called "Sock Monkey".  Love this little guy, I think he's one of my favorite sets so far.

Sneak Peeks are HERE!

My pre-order arrived at 5:30 p.m. yesterday.  Despite my efforts to stalk my front door looking out for the "man in brown"... my package took all day to arrive.  It was my day off too, so it was a long one waiting, hoping, and anticipating the arrival of my Stampin' Up! order.

BUT, the goodies are finally HERE! and I get to share my samples with you.

Today, I have two Kreations to share with you.  The first one is using the new "Sock Monkey" release.

This is the set that I couldn't wait to ink up.  Using the new Holiday Happenings Designer Series Paper (DSP), I drew inspiration from the colors in the floral pattern.  The card base is done in one of the new In Colors, Baja Breeze.  I cut out two circles using my Fiskars circle template in Kiwi Kiss and Pink Pirouette (also new In Colors). 

I paper pieced the Sock Monkey's "outfit". Rather than sticking with the traditional brown and red Sock Monkey, I chose to use some DSP and Baja Breeze textured cardstock.  He is holding a flower from another new stamp set called Seasonal Icons.  I stamped the image twice - once in Kiwi Kiss and the second time in Baja Breeze.  Then I punched the flowers center using a 1" circle punch and popped it up on dimensionals.  The sentiment is from the "Sock Monkey" collection and is stamped using a stamp-a-ma-jig onto a Pink Pirouette heart from the "Seasonal Icons" set. 

My second Kreation was made using the new release "Dreams du Jour".  I wanted to showcase a few of the new In Colors on this card.  I used (from left to right) Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, and Kiwi Kiss. 

Something you may notice too is the scalloped edge.  I used the new scallop border punch to create my edges and I have to say ... this will be much easier than trying to use a corner rounder punch to create a stylish edge.  SO glad I bought this new tool!  I finished the card off with some blingy rhinestones to add some sparkle.
