• Upload to Pals Paper Arts by Tuesday, December 22 (Noon CST)

The card I created for today's challenge was so incredibly easy!

Card Details

• Trim designer paper (I used Christmas Cocoa specialty) to 4" x 5 1/4"
  
• Adhere piece of ribbon across the top (I used Soft Suede Polka Dot)
  
• Stamp your sentiment directly on the designer paper in Soft Suede Classic Ink
  
• Finish off with a button in the center of the snowflake.  I threaded a piece of golden ribbon through my button.
• Adhere designer paper to card stock
  
• Done!

Speaking of a winter wonderland ... here are photos of our front yard and driveway.  Last week we received over 18" of snow - this is what we woke up to in the morning!!

Top Note Tags

These custom tags were LOADS of fun to make!!  Especially because I was making them for special members of my family.  These were created for my brother, sister-in-law, nephews, and niece (who's due in January).

I used my Top Note die along with some Stampin' Up! punches and a few Cuttlebug embossing folders to create each tag.  I am very happy with the way these turned out - especially considering I made them all last night in less than 2 hours (along with 4 more that I haven't photographed yet).

Re-Vamp and Sneak Peek!

Quick post to share two things today:  1)  This card that is re-vamped from a 3 x 3 card which I created earlier this week.  2)  A sneak peek into the Spring/Summer Idea Book & Catalog.  Yeah!!

My nickname given to me by my Mom is Buzz.  So, this is why Bee's are close to my heart.  I just HAD to pre-order this stamp set - and now you know why!

I'm Dreaming of a Mod Christmas

Check out this merry mod card that I made last night.

My husband asked if I could create a card for someone he does business with.  His exact words were "can you please create one of your super awesome cards for me to send to XXX Company?"  (Sorry, can't share the details here)

I'm thinking ... um, ok ... what exactly IS super awesome in his eyes??? 

Well, this is what I came up with as my answer to "super awesome".  This card is going to a technical publishing and graphic illustration company.  So, I wanted something non-traditional, modern and most of all fun.

I used the stamp set "Snow Swirled" and randomly scattered the various sized snowflakes.  The color scheme I used is Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss (both In Colors) and More Mustard.  I got the idea for this combo in a recent Stampin' Up! publication. 

The sketch I used on this card was yesterday's SCS challenge (SC207), which you can see to the right.

Snowcake

Another non-traditional Christmas project for me (color-wise).

Tonight, I am going to an ornament exchange dinner... and guess what is inside this cute little gable box?  You guessed it, an ornament (scroll down to see it)!

I used the stamp set "Snow Swirled" to randomly stamp these beautiful snowflakes.  The large snowflake is inked in Perfect Plum (love this color), the middle size snowflake in Kiwi Kiss and the small snowflake in Pretty in Pink.

The sentiment is from a hostess level 1 stamp set called "Best Yet".  It is stamped on Whisper White card stock and layered on top of a Pretty in Pink punch out using the Curly Label punch.  That punch is layered one more time using Stampin' Dimensionals and is sitting on top of a Kiwi Kiss large Oval punch.

This cute half cupcake, half snowman is hidden inside this box.  Isn't he the cutest thing? 

I always buy an ornament to exchange, then end up wanting to keep it for myself.  Maybe I need to start buying two of them?

Shiny, Shiny Christmas

This Kreation was made for a challenge between my fellow demonstrators - called The Stampin' Pretty Pals.  I came up with the challenge, which was  to be inspired by wrapping paper from The Container Store.  I am a true paper fan (ok, hoarder)... whether it's gift wrap, card stock, or designer series paper.  I just can't get enough of it.

I chose this gift wrap for my starting point.  I really like a bit of non-traditional colors in my Christmas. 

I started my card my cutting a piece of Stampin' Up! Silver card stock.  I then randomly stamped the snowflake from the "Snow Swirled" stamp set.  The ink colors I used are Real Red, Gable Green, and Pacific Point (current In Color).

Now, please ignore my smudges as this was one of my first experiences stamping onto a shiny card stock.  NOTE TO SELF:  Let ink dry before trying to add embellishment - like the Real Red grosgrain ribbon on this card - LOL!

Despite the smudges, I am still happy with the outcome.  I think it's a fun and unique Christmas card that I would be proud to send to any family member or friend.

Non-Traditional Christmas

 

It's beginning to look like a lot like a non-traditional Christmas, everywhere you go ... or at least in my world it is!

I'm all for thinking outside the box and these two Kreations I have to share with you today are no exception.  I created two (what I would call) non-traditional Christmas cards. 

The first one self-titled "Krafty Christmas" was completed for last week's Splitcoaststampers Try a New Technique Challenge (TLC183)- which was to faux dry emboss.  There is a great photo tutorial for you to follow if you are interested in trying this technique.

I started my card with a base of Kraft cardstock.  LOVE Stampin' Up!'s Kraft cardstock... bought an entire package of it in fact (40 8 1/2" x 11" sheets).

I followed the tutorial and inked the tree from the "Snow Swirled" stamp set in White craft ink.  I quickly heat set it to allow it to dry quickly.  Using my Stamp-a-ma-jig, I positioned where I wanted my top image to be stamped.  I then stamped the tree again using Chocolate Chip ink.  This gives the effect of embossing without actually using any embossing powder! 

Pretty, isn't it?

I added a few flowers from the Flower Fusion Too collection, they are attached with a silver brad for a bit of shine.

My second Kreation was completed for yesterday's color challenge (CC182) - which was to use monochromatic colors. 

I glanced around my stamping space and the new So Saffron Poly Twill ribbon caught my eye.  So, I decided I was going to run with the So Saffron color. 

The designer paper used on this card (bottom portion) is from the Windsor Knot collection.

I used the "Say it with Scallops" stamp set and again chose to do a non-traditional Christmas card.

This stamp in particular works perfectly with the new scallop square punch.  Just stamp, punch and you've got a beautifully finished Kreation!

Blue Christmas... (or maybe Red?)

The summer is quickly coming to an end and I find myself thinking about Christmas already. 

Having a 4 year old - I am always thinking ahead when it comes to birthday's and Christmas.  I have started his wish list on Amazon.com for his big #5 birthday this November, and am pondering ideas  for Christmas. 

With Christmas on the brain, I decided to make a go at a few ideas for cards this year. 

I started with the "blues" and chose Pacific Point as my main color of cardstock (I also made the same card in "reds" - see below).  Using the three snowflakes from the "Snow Swirled" stamp set, I inked up the large one in Pacific Point, the middle sized one in Baja Breeze and the small one in Kiwi Kiss. 

Randomly, I stamped the snowflakes across a strip of Whisper White cardstock, then mounted that piece to a strip of Baja Breeze.  At the end of the strip, I punched out a slit using my horizontal punch and slipped a bit of striped Pacific Point ribbon through it. 

Securing the ribbon is a colored staple, however, you could easily adhere the ribbon to itself instead.  I also trimmed the ribbon using my Stampin' Up! craft & rubber scissors into a "flag" shape to add a bit of interest.

Finally, I inked the sentiment from the "Heard from the Heart" set in Versamark ink and then heat  set using clear embossing powder. 


Reds:  Colors used are Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, and Tangerine Tango.  The technique was the same on the red card as the blue.
