Below is the card I made from my husband & I.  It was fun paper piecing this stack of gifts.

Guest Stamper

Let me introduce you to a future Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. 

He works hard, but plays even harder!  Every time I'm in my stamping room, he comes in asking "Mommy, can I make a card too?" 

With pride, I introduce you to my son - Devlin.  My favorite guy in the entire universe.

Look closely and you'll see he is using Real Red - his favorite Stampin' Up! color (mine too).  For a 5 year old, he is amazingly careful with the ink pads, even makes sure the wood stays clean on the stamps. 

He was very impressed with a card I made the other day and wanted to try and CASE it.  His attempt is the card on the right, but he couldn't stop at making only one.  So he made a Halloween/Winter card too.  He's my kind of stamper, using all those fun accessories.   

I love this kid to pieces!

Hey now, you're a rock star ...

   

What do you do when your little one gets an owie?

Make him a card to let him know he's a rock star.  That's what!  Yesterday, my rock star tripped, fell on the cement, skinned both knees, and cried for what seemed like hours.  Even ice cream couldn't stop the tears.  

But after he opened this card from Mommy, he was all smiles!

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this Storybook Specialty designer paper when I saw it in the Idea Book & Catalog.

I love the bright, bold prints that show up on one side of the paper.  The fun is waiting on the flip side ... side two provides you a coloring book effect.  Cute prints are there begging to be colored in.

I have so many ideas rolling around in my head for this paper.  All I need now is the time to sit down and create.  It certainly gets busy working outside of the home, being a Mommy, and squeezing in stamp time.  But I'll get there - I promise!

Rock Stars

As the end of the school year approaches, I wanted to recognize some special rock stars (kids) in my life. 

I made these cards for my nephews who are 5 and 7 years old.  Inside I will put a small treat of some sort - maybe some special stickers or a $5.00 gift card.  That part hasn't been decided yet.

With the new 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalog coming out on July 1st, I've been reorganizing my stamping supplies.  After sorting through my personal stash - I've realized that my paper hoarding has reached a new level.  LOL!

What better way to break the habit of hoarding - than to start using the supplies! 

I found a really simple layout and used it on both of these cards.  I wanted to keep the cards basic but still fun, considering the age of the recipients.  I think they'll both love these rockin' papers and lined envelopes.

Each card uses the Rockabilly Designer Paper which is part of the last chance list.

Little Brother

This card is for my little brother - OK, not so little anymore - so I should say younger brother.  He's in his late 20's... LOL!  His birthday is coming up on Friday March 27th.

We've already had our family dinner at my Mom's to celebrate, and I gave him a card over the weekend.  However, I wanted to make him one that I could send in the mail too.

Now, I have to say - even though this card uses the tough Just Jawing set, I think it turned out a little "too young".  I could see my 5 year old liking this card - so I may have to go back to the drawing board for my brother.  LOL!

Quick post today, as I've mentioned, I'm in the process of packing and moving ... so I don't have as much time to indulge in stamping and my blog as I'd like.

You RRR Invited to comment on my first idea for my son's 5th Birthday invitation (which is pirate themed).  The "R's" are a bit shaky to emphasize pirate dialect.  :)

I really like this Kreation ... but can I really muster up the patience to make 25 of these?!  The thought send chills into my bones!

His birthday party is scheduled for November 15th (the weekend after his actual birthday).  So, I figure I have about a week to come up with other options for mass production.

Spectacularly Spooky News!

For my Kreation  of the day...  I found some Halloween themed Pop Rocks (scroll down for photo - click to enlarge) at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant & Store.  I thought it would be fun to create a card using the "Just Jawing" stamp set and include a pack of Pop Rocks, since the sentiment from this set says "You Rock".

This card showcases the Ghostly Greetings Designer Series Paper (DSP) and even shows off the Kiwi Kiss buttons from the Button Bouquet collection.  I inked the sentiment on Basic Black paper in Versamark ink, then heat embossed using clear powder.  This gave it a fun shine!  The skull is stamped in Whisper White craft ink and also heat embossed using clear powder. 

What a Rockin' card to give to a kid for Halloween or their Birthday !  Even a "kid at heart" would love this... Pop Rocks are fun no matter how old you are, right?  My husband requested that I buy an extra bag of Pop Rocks for him, too!

Glamour Rock!

Enter "Just Jawing" in a glamorous fashion. 

She is all dolled out in Bravo Burgundy and a Kiwi Kiss hair bow to boot - set upon a background of Parisian Summer Designer Series Paper (DSP).

This glam gal took her inspiration from a tote designed by Marimekko, a company of Finnish designers that have been creating since 1951.  

This particular card was created for today's Inspiration Challenge at SCS.  

I really loved the colors in a tote by Marimekko {see photo below}.  I chose the pink version of this tote for my inspiration. 

The contrast of the almost brown purple and bright green against the pale pink/purple background really caught my eye.

I decided to make a go at a card using one of my favorite new sets - "Just Jawing" and glam it up a bit. 

The card started with a Pale Plum base, then was layered with this gorgeous print from the Parisian Summer DSP collection.  My gal is inked in Bravo Burgundy and is adorned with a Kiwi Kiss hair bow, blinged out using a deconstructed Stampin' Up! rhinestone brad. 

To create the interesting sentiment, I inked "You Rock' in Kiwi Kiss.  I punched the "You" out with the small oval punch and the "Rock" out using the larger oval punch. 

Beneath the sentiment, I punched holes in each Kiwi Kiss oval using my horizontal slit punch and threaded a piece of satin Kiwi Kiss ribbon through each end to secure it. 

To finish my card, I used Stampin Up!'s new wide oval punch (page 188 in the Fall/Winter Idea Book & Catalog)- sliced it in half and mounted the sentiment along each side.

Welcome to the World

Today’s Kreation titled "Welcome to the World" was made for a co-worker.   Come late September, a bouncing baby boy will be born.

Today we are having a "baby shower" for her over the Noon hour.  I wanted to give her a handmade card to go along with my gift to her. 

A while back, I found a miniature bath tub tin that held little yellow duck mints. 

The colors on the tin reminded me of Stampin' Up!'s Baja Breeze and So Saffron.  With that inspiration, I chose my color scheme and created my card.

The base of this card is Baja Breeze randomly stamped using the star from the "Just Jawing" stamp set.  I added some Basic Grey designer paper along the bottom from the Oh Baby Boy! collection. 

Along the top of the designer paper, I adhered a piece of Stampin' Up! So Saffron cardstock, again stamped with the stars.  This piece got the scalloped edge treatment. 

I recently purchased this new wide double stitched ribbon in Baja Breeze from Stampin' Up! and thought this was the perfect addition for this card.  Atop the ribbon is the main stamped image from "So Many Scallops" - Sale-a-Bration collection 2008. 

I hope she enjoys this card - I got the new baby a little yellow outfit covered in dots and ducks.  I packaged it all in a rubber ducky themed gift bag and added the little bath tub mints to the top of the tissue paper.  Now I wished I had photographed the gift set... but you'll just have to picture it in your head.
