In preparing for this weeks Pals Paper Arts Challenge, I came up with two projects. 

The one I used for my design team submission was posted yesterday.  See my scrapbook page by clicking here.  

Pictured below is a card "in progress" using the colors from the PPA6 challenge:  Brocade Blue, Crushed Curry, & Ruby Red.

When I was assembling this card, I discovered something kind of fun.  The image you see above is a photo I took before completion. 

I found that I really liked the graphic look of these colored scalloped squares paired with it's powerful sentiment.  So, I wanted to share it with you. 

Below, you'll see the completed card - which I am in love with.  I can't stop staring at it on my stamping desk. 

 

These colors may seem a bit intimidating to work with, but here's a tip - lay your ink pads next to each other, it may inspire you to create (that's what I do). 

I chose to work with a simple image, the butterfly, which for me made the color combination workable and downright beautiful.

Dusty Durango

Simple, clean & modern finishes my Parade of In Colors with a bang!

This card and coordinating envelope fall into my Kwik & Kool category - it took me less than 15 minutes to create from start to finish.  I used two different stamp sets on the card - Deams Du Jour and Razzle Dazzle. 

I stamped one of the Razzle Dazzle images (using my stamp-a-ma-jig) on Whisper White cardstock to customize the inside of my envelope. 

Here's how I did it:

• Trimmed the stamped cardstock (liner paper) to 5 3/4" x 5"
• Inserted liner paper into the envelope so that it just barely overlaps the closure
• Adhered the envelope closure to my liner paper
• Removed the excess liner paper from the envelope closure using a hobby blade. 
  

There you have it, a pretty matching envelope!  The best part is - you can create whatever kind of envelope you choose.  Line them with designer paper, colored cardstock (textured would be cool), or even stamp your own liner paper like I did.

 

Above you'll see the color comparison for Dusty Durango (mounted on Dusty Durango) textured cardstock) using an image from the Circle Circus stamp set.  Colors from left to right are as follows:  Dusty Durango, Really Rust, Pumpkin Pie, & Creamy Caramel.

Bermuda Bay

Bermuda Bay bangs its drum on day three of the Parade of In Colors.

Well, here it is - the 3rd day of my In Color parade.  The line up has changed slightly so I could share with you an exciting announcement on June 29th.

What you see above is a tribute to the new Bermuda Bay In Color.  Again I used the two stamp sets Sweet Stems & Dreams du Jour as I did on my previous cards.  See them both by scrolling down or viewing my card gallery.

I used this sketch provided by Card Positioning Systems (CPS) to create this card.  Whenever I see a wide open space in a sketch, I think of either Designer Series Paper (DSP) OR making my own DSP.

I chose the latter option using my Sweet Stems stamp set.  With the help of the stamp-a-ma-jig, I was able to use one of the images to create this fun Bermuda Bay patterned DSP.

Below is a comparison of Bermuda Bay against four current Stampin' Up! colors.  Colors from left to right are as follows:  Bermuda Bay, Taken with Teal, Tempting Turquoise, & Sage Shadow.

Soft Suede

Soft Suede struts its stuff on day two of my Parade of In Colors.

Today's card shows off the heat embossing technique. 

To allow the Soft Suede paper to take the spotlight, I dipped my Sweet Stems and Dreams du Jour (butterfly) stamps into some Versamark ink.  Before the ink dried, I covered the images with clear embossing power, and finally heat set the powder to it's shiny finish.

The card base is also Soft Suede and tied around it is some luscious 1/2" polka-dot grosgrain ribbon (available July 1).  

Below is the color comparison for Soft Suede.  You may notice a hint of green in the paper and ink.  To show just how different the colors are, I also stamped an Always Artichoke image on the far right.

All colors are mounted on a piece of Soft Suede textured cardstock (stamp image is from the new Circle Circus stamp set - avail Jul 1).  Colors from left to right are as follows:  Soft Suede, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip & Always Artichoke.

This color swatch is the perfect way to show how versatile this new In Color neutral can be.  It also allows you to compare Soft Suede to similar/current Stampin' Up! colors.

Today I want to share with you a card made using the Rich Razzleberry color.

This card uses the Sweet Stems and Dreams du Jour (sentiment) stamp sets.  I wanted to keep the card simple while allowing it to show off the richness of the Razzleberry ink. 

The card base is Rich Razzleberry and you'll also see the beautiful new polka-dot grosgrain ribbon (available July 1).  Stay tuned:  I'll be posting information on how you can join my In Color Club on June 30.  Get all of the new In Colors for a fraction of the total retail value.

I also wanted to share with you today a color comparison.

All colors are mounted on a piece of Rich Razzleberry textured cardstock (stamp image is from the new Circle Circus stamp set - avail Jul 1).  Colors from left to right are as follows:  Rich Razzleberry, Bravo Burgundy, Elegant Eggplant & Perfect Plum. 

This color swatch is a fantastic tool and shows you just how rich the new In Color  is.  It also allows you to compare it to similar current Stampin' Up! colors.

Bella Boxy Bag

Today's Kreation is a little gift box and coordinating card.  You may recognize the card as it is one I made previously, however, I thought it went perfectly with this little gift box. 

I used the template for a "boxy bag" (found on Jody's blog) but customized it for my needs by enlarging it just a bit.  Her little boxy bags are so adorable and perfect for the upcoming holidays - both Halloween and Christmas.

The base of the box is textured Riding Hood Red, covered in some Bella Rose DSP and a strip of Baja Breeze cardstock (to help tie the box and card together).

For today's Kreation, I participated in the SCS Inspiration challenge (IC140).  Inspiration came from an Asian table setting that was featured in O Magazine (see inspiration photo below).  

I started my card with one of my new favorite In Colors - Baja Breeze.  I cut a piece of the Bella Rose designer series paper (found on page 168 of the new catalog) in a Riding Hood Red print. 

To that I added a strip of Bella Rose DSP in the same print but in the color Kiwi Kiss.  I mounted a scallop circle in Baja Breeze below the Kiwi Kiss strip - the blue and red match the inspiration piece nicely. 

TIP:  The Bella Rose DSP coordinates with these colors - Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, and Chocolate Chip. 

On top of the Kiwi strip, I added a 1 3/4" punched circle in textured Riding Hood Red card stock and topped it off with a butterfly from the "Dreams du Jour" stamp set (page 103). 

The finishing touch is a bit of bling around the focal point.  The thank you sentiment is from the "Short & Sweet" stamp set (page 146) and is punched out using the word window punch.

This Kreation was made to simply honor the current In Colors, before the NEW In Colors go into effect August 11th.  I used Purely Pomegranate for my card base, and a bit of scalloped River Rock peeks out from beneath a wide strip of Groovy Guava. 

I used two new stamp sets - the hearts come from the "Seasonal Icons" set (Hostess Level III set) and the sentiment is from the "Dreams du Jour" set.  Both stamp sets to be released with the new Fall/Winter Idea Book & Catalog.

I hope you are as excited as I am for the new releases!  Stay tuned for more information as August 11 approaches.

Bella Breeze

 

I participated (for the first time) in the Mojo Monday sketch on the Poetic Artistry blog this week. 

Considering I had a sketch in front of me, this card was easy to create.  The Mojo Monday sketch helped me get some of my “mojo” back.  I am very happy with the color combination, layout and overall look of this Kreation.

 

I started my card with a Baja Breeze base, added a 4” x 5 ¼” card front using a piece of the “soon to be released” Bella Rose Designer Series Paper.  This print is done in Riding Hood Red & Pink Pirouette…LOVE this paper. 

 

I added some textured Riding Hood Red paper underneath the Baja Breeze top layer and I used Stampin’ Up!’s new scallop punch along the bottom of the red card stock. 

 

For my image, I first inked the butterfly from the “Dreams du Jour” set in Pink Pirouette and stamped an image.  Then I inked it again in Riding Hood Red and stamped off to the side – this way I got a staggered/layered effect.  Under the image, is a 1 3/8” punched circle in Riding Hood Red and a split scallop in Baja Breeze and Pink Pirouette textured cardstock.  (If you enlarge the image you can see the detail).

 

Instead of a ribbon running across the top, I chose to use textured Baja Breeze card stock and even used a sliver of the cardstock to secure my button in place.  The kindness sentiment is from the "Heard from the Heart" stamp set (also released August 11, 2008)

A few fellow demonstrators have recently been promoted to Senior Associate.  I want to say Congratulations! and Keep Dreaming! to them as they move towards even higher goals.

My first Kreation for today's post was made for my "virtual friend" Kim (Kim's Korner).  Although, I have never met Kim in real life, I feel as though I know her through our blogs and e-mail's.  

Please stop by her blog and leave her a comment congratulating her the title of Senior Associate.  

I used Baja Breeze for the base, Pink Pirouette for the bottom scalloped panel, and a piece of Holiday Happenings DSP on top.  The stamps used are from the "Dreams du Jour" collection. 

My second Kreation for today's post was made to honor another fellow demonstrator, named Erica.  I wish her the best in pursuing her career with Stampin' Up!

I made the second card using the SCS color challenge (CC175).  

I started this card with a base of Wild Wasabi, on top of that layered a piece of So Saffron card stock.  The So Saffron took a ride through the Cuttlebug in the Swiss Dots embossing folder. 

Under the embossed layer is a piece of "Spring Fling" Designer Series Paper that got the scallop edge treatment.  The scallop punch will be released with the new Fall/Winter Idea Book & Catalog on August 11th. 

I tried a new ribbon tying technique, using a bit of So Saffron narrow grosgrain ribbon.  You too can "tie" a ribbon like this - just visit the My Paper Creations blog for a tutorial.  Super easy and a pretty end result. 

The flower stamp from the "Seasonal Icons" collection was inked in Almost Amethyst and punched out using a 1" circle punch.  The images were then mounted to a 1 1/4" circle and finally to a half scallop in Wild Wasabi.  The final touch is a sentiment from the Holiday Happenings Rub-on collection (Upcoming Hostess Level III set).
