You Won't Believe What I Did!!

I STAMPED!!  I finally found some time to play!

But, now I'm exhausted and don't have much to post.  LOL.  I do have 4 more cards to share with you, though.  I'm very excited about that... so stay tuned.

I love the result of this clean and simple card (CAS).  The ironic thing is that it took me 4 stamp sets to achieve this look. 

Anyone care to guess what 4 sets I used?  Find out at the end of this post (no peeking!)  HINT:  These little party hats are meant to be "worn" on another part of the body.

Splitcoaststampers was where I found inspiration for this card.  The CAS challenge for today was to create a birthday card.  If you've never created a clean and simple card, I highly recommend trying it out. 

To date, I think my best cards have been what I call Kwik & Kool. 

Short post for today because I want time to browse my catalog.  I have yet to press the order button because I'm trying hard to choose only the items I REALLY love.

Four C's

This fun card was created while I was thinking of the Fourth of July.  I used 3 stamp sets that start with the letter C on this card.  What a fun coincidence.

I used the new Circle Circus set (released for purchase on July 1) to stamp my flower images.  I then used the Happy Birthday to You sentiment from the Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set.  Using my stamp-a-ma-jig, I aligned the words perfectly around the circle twice. 

The stems to these flowers from the Cheep Talk stamp set.  I also used the stamp-a-ma-jig to allow for perfect placement of each stem.

My birthday is July 5, and I've always enjoyed being able to celebrate with a bang.  I enjoy going to the fireworks the night before with my family.  Feels like a big party for me too. 

So, because I'm thinking about birthdays and the letter C.  I want to give one lucky person a fabulous gift.

Today's card was created for my 6th wedding Anniversary.  I was sorting through my personal Stampin' Up! stash and came across the JackPot Designer Paper.  On one of the prints the word "heart" stood out to me.  It seemed like a perfect fit for the feel I had in mind.

So, I trimmed only that word out and mounted it on top of another print from the collection.  I like the simplicity of the card and the contrast of Kiwi Kiss against the Very Vanilla and Black patterned paper.

See that cute little heart peeking out?  Wonder how I did that?

• Punch out a 1/2" circle on the JackPot paper
• Stamp a small heart on Very Vanilla, punch it out using a 1" circle punch
• Adhere the Very Vanilla circle to the backside of the JackPot paper
• Adhere the JackPot paper to the Kiwi Kiss card base
• Using a Jumbo Grommet, pierce it through the cardstock directly over the punched out circle
• Bend the grommet's "legs" back using a bone folder or other hard object

There you have it ... a little peek hole for added interest.  NOTE:  The "i" and "u" are non-Stampin' Up! rub-on's.  But you could easily substitute these letters with an alphabet stamp set, chipboard letters or even die cut letters.

Thank You, You & You

It's been a while since I've sat down and participated in a Splitcoast Challenge.

Well, last night I was in the stamping mood ... and joined in on THREE challenges.  Color challenge CC220, Sketch challenge SC230, and a challenge between a group of fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrators. 

The Demonstrator challenge was to use the colors for this week on Splitcoast (Bashful Blue, So Saffron & Pumpkin Pie) and throw in a twist of using a punch.

On my card, you'll notice that I used four different punches.  The 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circle punches, the word window punch, and the small oval punch.   Whew!  Lots of tools for one little card!

I titled this card You, You, You not only becuase of the obvious reason - the sentiment - but also becuase this card goes out to YOU!  My readers ... who have continued to Buzz By and read my blog - even when I have been too busy to stamp and share.

Cheep Talk Color Challenge

I'm frantically trying to keep my blog updated - all while fighting a terrible cold/flu. 

This afternoon, I started to feel a bit better ... so, I chose to participate in today's Splitcoast color challenge (CC207).

Using the stamp set "Cheep Talk", I randomly stamped images in Kiwi Kiss, Pumpkin Pie & Summer Sun on a rectangular piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I cut the rectangle into pieces and layered each piece on Pumpkin Pie cardstock.

Wanting to keep the rest of the card very simple, I used Kraft cardstock as my base.  I also wrapped a bit of Kraft taffeta ribbon around the top.  TIP:  Use the stay put bow method for a perfect finish inside and out.

Friend in Me

Today's card uses the stamp set, Cheep Talk - and this time I used the set without the birds to show it's versatility.

If you enlarge the photo and look closely, you'll notice the patterned Kraft paper.  It is from the Taste of Textiles collection.  As mentioned in an earlier post, it is difficult to get the full effect of the Textiles collection, unless you see it in person.  But I can guarantee you that you'd love it!

Peary Funny

I created this card for a really fun Papertrey Ink Challenge.

This card turned out so much better than I imagined it in my head.  I love that little Summer Sun pear hanging off the Kiwi Kiss branch.

And those jumbo brads - well, they are just to die for.  I especially love the ones that are 5/8".

Soft Slumber

This card reminds me of a warm, fuzzy blankie...

The Sweet Slumber Designer Series Paper is textured and gives off a "cozy" feeling in my opinion.  I added some stamped floral images to the already adorable polka dot pattern.  TIP:  Use this chart to help you color coordinate.

Hoo Knew?

Well, hello there!  Who knew chipboard could be so much fun?

Making this card was my first experience with shaped chipboard.  The owl and tree branch are both pieces from the On Board So Tweet collection.

In this collection, you'll get 6 9" x 9" sheets with 11 designs (8 of each piece - for a total of 88 pieces).

With chipboard, there is so much you can do.  Consider it a blank canvas and color it with your Stampin' Up! ink, add some glue and sprinkle it with glitter (as I did with the eyes and nose). 

On this card, I also adhered some Good Morning Sunshine DSP to Mr. Owl then sanded the edges for a tighter fit to my shape. 

TIP:  Use a stamp & ink to create your own pattern on the chipboard.  In my sample, I stamped an image from Trendy Trees in Kiwi Kiss ink all over the tree branch.
