Family

A few pages showing my Mom's side of the family ... the top photo was taken not even 5 months before her passing.  It's amazing how healthy she looks!  I love this photo of her - I remember that day and how happy she was to have her family surrounding her.  

We were headed to a local parade - we always sat near her house because the parade route was right around the corner.  I also remember how winded she was from the short walk too - her lungs couldn't take much activity at that point.  But she was still happy to have family near and tried to make the best of it!

18 photos gives only a peek into her life with her grandkids.  She was a proud & loving Grandma! The kids are growing so fast & I know she's watching over them like Grandma's always do.

A True Friend

Pictured above is myself & my Mom on my wedding day back in 2003.  She LOVED that glittery dress, it was perfect!  Everyone she touched that day carried away a piece of her in the form of glitter on their clothing, too!

Below is the last photo I have of my Mom & I together before she passed away.  It was Thanksgiving 2009 and she we hosted it at our home.  She was too weak to do any cooking - much less stand for too long.  On her lap is my neice Ashlynn.

Bottom left photo is my brother Dustin, my Mom, & myself.  Bottom right photo is my Dad, myself & my Mom.  My parents divorced several years ago - so having a photo of all of us together like this is truly a treasure.

OK, this is where the scrapbooking gets tough.  

The stars of these pages are my Mom and my brother, Dustin. While these moments captured are all happy - knowing my Mom is gone brings such sadness.  I am grateful to have these photographs and even more so, her very own words preserved forever (in the journaling above).

Using My Digital Studio is not only fun - it has provided some great "therapy" if you will.  For months after my Mom passed away (many months), I was not able to even look at a photo of my Mom. 

Being able to scrapbook photos of her and more importantly, SHARE the finished product brings some closure.  What does scrapbooking do for you?  Provide stress relief ... give you some "me time" ...  I'd love to hear about your creative process.  Please leave me a comment below!

Pink Christmas

A few more pages of my on-going scrapbook to share.  Thank you for allowing me to showcase one of the most important people in my life - my Mom.

Above you'll see the Tree of Hope decorated in all shades of pink.  The photograph is members of my family - that year we all went to my Mom's work to view the pink tree.  My Mom, pictured in the center, hugging on her Grandson Austin - was surrounded by pure love that day.

Enjoy the little things

This is my Mom.  

The top left photo is my favorite of her and the middle photo is my husband's favorite.  The reason we like these photos is because she wasn't wearing one of her wigs.  It's just her shining through the cancer.

A few of these photos are from her first wig fitting and of her friends showing their support of breast cancer with pink hair.  The image on the second page - upper left was taken after her hair grew back the first time after chemo treatment.  She chose that photo for her obituary ... it showed off her great smile.  Which, I've been told, I've inherited from her - a little piece of my Mom to have forever.

She was all about enjoying the little things.  So, this sentiment fits this page perfectly. 

I've been able to slowly work through a scrapbook thanks to My Digital Studio.  It allows me to keep an on-going project without having to take out or put away any supplies.  I love it and am having so much fun sharing my work with you.

That Day in August

 

These two pages are part of an on-going My Digital Studio (MDS) scrapbook I'm creating in memory of my Mom.  (Click to enlarge images)

While the pages aren't fancy or incredibly embellished.  They tell the story, just the same.  

In this book, I am using many of my Mom's own words.  As soon as she was diagnosed, I started saving e-mails from her.  By doing this, I am able to capture "her voice" allowing her to tell her own story.  It certainly isn't easy for me to look back in time and realize she is, in fact, gone.  It's a tough pill to swallow and I don't think I'll ever get over the loss - she is terribly missed.  But, I believe that this book allowed me to start grieving the loss of not only my Mom, but my best friend.
