Birthday Bash

The long anticipated Birthday Party was a success!

My son's (Devlin) 5th birthday bash was yesterday and a fun time was had by all.  I think the adults had about as much fun as the kids.

I made the card above to give him along with his gift - using the set "Ahoy, Matey".  I thought it coordinated nicely with the pirate theme.  I used some Stampin' Up! chunky glitter (for the first time) on the sword.  No pirate can be without a shiny sword!

Below is a group shot of the goody bags (using "Ahoy, Matey" and "Matey's Map") I worked on for each child.  The blue and green toppers are for the boys and the orange and red for the girls.  This is what has been keeping me from "regular" stamping over the past few weeks.  I made a total of 20 goody bags and worked on them little by little each night.  Whew!

Treats... Not Tricks

 

Happy Halloween!

Last night I decided to make up itty bitty treat bags for fellow co-workers.  I quickly made up a list of those that I'd like to treat and got to work.  

The treat bag toppers are made from the Ghostly Greetings Designer Series Paper (DSP) collection.  I cut a 4 1/4" x 3" piece of DSP and simply folded in half.  

The stars of the show are images inked in Kiwi Kiss, Pumpkin Pie, & Basic Black from the "Batty For You" stamp set.  These guys are punched out with a 1 1/4" circle punch and mounted on color cardstock punched out with the 1 3/8" circle punch.

Some yummy treats are inside too - Hershey's Kisses in two flavors - candy corn & chocolate with marshmallow filling!  Yum!  

Trick or Treat... hope you get something good to eat.

For my Kreation  of the day...  I found some Halloween themed Pop Rocks (scroll down for photo - click to enlarge) at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant & Store.  I thought it would be fun to create a card using the "Just Jawing" stamp set and include a pack of Pop Rocks, since the sentiment from this set says "You Rock".

This card showcases the Ghostly Greetings Designer Series Paper (DSP) and even shows off the Kiwi Kiss buttons from the Button Bouquet collection.  I inked the sentiment on Basic Black paper in Versamark ink, then heat embossed using clear powder.  This gave it a fun shine!  The skull is stamped in Whisper White craft ink and also heat embossed using clear powder. 

What a Rockin' card to give to a kid for Halloween or their Birthday !  Even a "kid at heart" would love this... Pop Rocks are fun no matter how old you are, right?  My husband requested that I buy an extra bag of Pop Rocks for him, too!

Beautifully Batty

Sorry I was scarce over the weekend... it was a busy one beginning with a Stampin' Up! party on Saturday.  Which by the way, was very successful and fun! 

BUT, I'm back today with a Beatifully Batty Kreation to share with you.  I have to say, this may be one of my favorite Kreations thus far.

I took inspiration for this card from the card sample in the Fall/Winter Idea Book & Catalog (page 28).  NOTE:  You can order a hard copy of the new catalog through me for $9.95.  Simply E-mail Me to make arrangements for delivery (free shipping).  That little bat hanging upside down was one of the first things in the new catalog that caught my eye. 

I was so happy to see that "Batty For You" made it into the Fall/Winter IB&C.  I bought it when it was released in last years Holiday Mini and thought it was retired.  Now I get to demonstrate this cute stamp set again!

Speaking of the Holiday Mini, you're also getting another sneak peek into a stamp set from that catalog.  The tree I used on this card is from the "Season of Friendship" set.  I drew my inspiration from a computer wallpaper background (from American Greetings.com) that I have set on my Mac at home. 

Other interesting details about this card are the mini clip (found on page 184 of the Fall/Winter IB&C) securing the black & white gingham ribbon.  I love the gingham ribbon as an alternative to plain black ribbon.  Gives it a more textured look, in my opinion.

Kiwi Kitty

This Kreation was made for the Featured Stamper challenge (FS82).  I chose to CASE this card by Niki.  I loved the layout on her Halloween card...

I stuck with the Halloween theme, but used Stampin' Up!'s "Haunting Halloween" stamp set.

This is a very fun set to work with - the set includes 6 whimsical stamps for only $18.95!  (see photo below). 



For my card, I started with a base of Pumpkin Pie cardstock.  Following Niki's layout, I layered some Kiwi Kiss & Basic Black cardstock to create some depth. 

This Kitty's got a flair for fashion with a custom made cape and hat (paper pieced using the Ghostly Greetings designer series paper). 

You'll notice the coordinating piece of Ghostly Greetings peeking out beneath my main image.  If you view my peeks page, you can see a glimpse of the designer paper collections, including Ghostly Greetings. 

Each corner of my main image gets a bit of bling, using Robin's Nest dew drops.
