No Peeking (that means you, Mary!)

This card was created for my Aunt Mary. 

Her birthday is today and hopefully this card is already in her hands.  She is the woman who introduced me to the world of Stampin' Up! - which has become my passion.

Mary is incredibly talented, successful and oh so creative.  Check out her blog at Stampin' Pretty (you've probably been there before). 

I thought the image and sentiment from the "Puns From the Past", was a perfect fit on her special day.  Not only is she my Aunt and my mentor in the stamping world, she is also a very good friend.

Last Tuesday, her card was chosen on Splitcoast stampers for the color challenge. (CC194)  So, I thought it would be appropriate to honor her bee-day using those colors.

I inked the image in Really Rust and placed it on Stampin' Dimensionals above a scallop circle, that I cut in half.  Aren't these colors (Really Rust, Going Gray, & Very Vanilla) beautiful together? 

I would have never come up with that combo on my own - and that's why I love Splitcoaststampers.  So much inspiration is just a click away - every day!

I am so thankful to have been surrounded by family today.  Around the holidays, I always get a little bit sad for some reason - I think because time seems to pass so fast.  But, I am grateful for the gift of my family and the time I do have with them. 

My parents were here together, despite being divorced (for many years now).  My brother arrived with his two little guys... so cousins got to play - which doesn't happen that often.  And my husband, step-son and my favorite "man" (my son, Devlin) in the world made the day complete.

I hope you all enjoyed good food and were in company of family & friends today.  Now... it's time for me to get ready for Christmas.

Here is my second card for World Card Making Day's SCS Challenges #2 and #3 (I combined two challenges into one card).  See the full list of challenges by clicking here.

For challenge #2 we were to CASE (Copy & Share for Everyone) a card from the Featured Stampers gallery.  For challenge #3, we were to be inspired by the current Coldwater Creek catalog cover.

I immediately thought of Stampin' Up!'s Autumn Vine Designer Series Paper (DSP) when I saw this cover.  I drew my inspiration from the colors and the fall theme. 

The stamp set used for this Kreation is called "Eat, Drink & Be Merry" and is from the Holiday Mini Catalog.

With that said, here is my Kreation of the day.  I thought I'd share a sample using product from the Holiday Mini Catalog.  The Top Note Bigz Die (Big Shot) gives this card big personality.

 

I ran a piece of Autumn Vine Designer Series Paper (DSP) through the Big Shot.  To see what colors coordinate with all of Stampin' Up!'s DSP, click here. 

The stamp set used is called "Winter Post" and I chose this proud deer image for today's card.  I have to say, I am usually very critical of my own work - but I LOVE the way this card turned out!!

I punched two small holes in each side of the card with my Crop-o-dile, and tied off two pretty Chocolate Chip taffeta bows.  Notice the paper piercing on the Top Note Die?  I mimicked that effect by paper piercing holes on my solid color cardstock surrounding my deer parade.

You are getting a sneak peek into the Holiday Mini Catalog (above).  The designer series paper is from the Autumn Vine collection (released October 1). 

The stamp set is called "Season of Friendship" - it's a great set of 6 stamps for $23.95.  The stamp set consists of the tree and four seasonal icons to customize your tree, as well as one sentiment that reads "The season of friendship lasts forever".

For my Kreation, I used a rub-on from the Chit Chat collection.  I used three oval punches to highlight my sentiment. 

Tomorrow I am demonstrating at a Stampin' Up! party.  I will be showing how to create these cards (one group will do red and the other blue), among showing off our fabulous tools, stamp sets, and accessories.
