Treasures of the Past

Yesterday, I framed a beautiful 8 x 10 photo of my Mom. 

This photo (on the left) is her high school graduation head shot.  I was lucky enough to receive this from her sister, Kathy, after my Mom's passing.  I had to find the perfect frame for this special treasure.

Inside the second "box" is a hand-stamped image that reads "Mother".  Here's a close up of that image.  I love how the t and h appear to be the butterfly's antennae. 

I was also lucky to receive from Kathy, other special photos.  The shadow box frame was the perfect fit for photos of my Mom, Dad, and myself... as well as a photo of my Mom on the day she married my Dad.  

On top of the hanging frame, I placed her wedding ring set and her urn.  There is also a necklace that spells "Mom" that I gave her when I was a child.  I am so happy that I get to keep these sentimental pieces from her life.

I used to invite her to stamp with me on many occasions and something always got in the way.  Whether she had other plans or was just too sick and worn down to get out of the house... we never got around to it.

Now, she's always right here with me in my stamping room, helping me create... whether she likes it or not.    :)

Robert Rocks

My step-son Robert, turned 13 yesterday ... here he is with one of his gifts... a new phone!

Above is a card I made for Robert, from my Dad who is in Iraq.

Below is the card I made from my husband & I.  It was fun paper piecing this stack of gifts. 

Melon Mambo Thank You

I don't have a lot to say today ... feeling a bit sad lately...

But, I did want to share with you a special thank you card I made.  I CASE'd this idea from Corie, over at Creations by Corie.

Thanks for the inspiration!  It was a fun card to create.

 

Pretty Pink Thank You

I pulled some thank you cards together over the weekend.  Several of these went out in the mail yesterday to so many thoughtful friends & family across the miles.

Thank you for all of your support as of late while my family deals with my Mom's passing.

I wanted to share with you the poem we chose for the inside of her memorial.  People have commented that it sounds just like "her" and have even asked if she wrote it herself.

Afterglow

I'd like the memory of me
To be a happy one.
I 'd like to leave an afterglow
Of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
Whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
And bright and sunny days
I'd like to tears of those who grieve
To dry before the sun,
Of happy memories that I leave
When life is done

Miss you deeply, Mom - every single day.

Sympathy Set

Sadly, my husband's Aunt passed away on the day of my Mom's memorial services.  

Sympathy cards are not cards I keep "on hand".  So, I decided to use the Vintage Vogue and Teeny Tiny Wishes sets to create a simple set of cards to send out to family during this difficult time.  Using Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry & Old Olive, I randomly stamped the floral images.

One fun thing about Stampin' Up!'s new clearmount stamp sets is that you can put multiple images on one clear block.  I put both the large and small flower on clear block D, which allowed me to quickly create this set of cards.

Bold Brights Birthday

Here are a few birthday cards I made over two weeks ago ...

Both cards use the Vintage Vogue and Well Scripted stamp sets.  I wanted to use the Vintage Vogue set and give it a more modern twist.  I did so by using the Bold Brights color family by Stampin' Up!

Excuse my short post as I am still adjusting to the loss of my Mom.  I hope that stamping and blogging will be a creative outlet for me as I go through this incredibly difficult time.
