This Kreation is a gift set for my son Devlin's daycare teacher, Lisa. She has accepted a position teaching children with autism in another town. We were lucky to have her stay as long as she has... it seems lately daycare teachers are leaving left and right.
I am sure the pay of a childcare worker does not equate to the duties they fulfill day in and day out. But I do hope they know just how much we appreciate them as a "stand in" Mommy & Daddy.
I made this cute little acetate box for the Try a New Technique challenge (TLC182) over at Splitcoaststampers.com. There, you can download a tutorial and make one yourself.
Sweet Always designer series paper (DSP) seemed to fit the bill for this Kreation. I made the box first, and filled it with Hershey's nuggets. I stamped the flower from the "Just Jawing" stamp set on an Avery mailing label #8160, then wrapped the label around each nugget.
The card started off with a piece of Pink Pirouette cardstock (one of the new In Colors). I added matching Sweet Always DSP to the card base and again stamped the flower from the "Just Jawing" stamp set. Each flower was punched out using a 1" circle punch and mounted to two larger circles and finally a scalloped circle.
The flowers on the card are inked in Tangerine Tango (another new In Color) and the center flower gets a bit of bling. This new bling is from the Designer Brad series in the filigree style. These brads come in four styles: Flower, Filigree, Circle and Star. Found on page 184 of the new Fall/Winter Idea Book &Catalog, each assortment contains 16 pieces, 8 each of 2 sizes in a styled silver finish.
I hope Lisa likes it! We plan to put a gift card inside the handmade card for a little going away gift.
It will be bittersweet as this little guy says goodbye to someone he's grown to care for.
But, we wish her the best of luck and are happy she played a part in caring for Devlin.
Great gift idea and your son is adorable!!!
I love that patterned paper you used. It's so bright and cheerful. Nice touch with the ribbon. That is a different way to add it. I love it!
