Bella Breeze

 

I participated (for the first time) in the Mojo Monday sketch on the Poetic Artistry blog this week. 

Considering I had a sketch in front of me, this card was easy to create.  The Mojo Monday sketch helped me get some of my “mojo” back.  I am very happy with the color combination, layout and overall look of this Kreation.

 

I started my card with a Baja Breeze base, added a 4” x 5 ¼” card front using a piece of the “soon to be released” Bella Rose Designer Series Paper.  This print is done in Riding Hood Red & Pink Pirouette…LOVE this paper. 

 

I added some textured Riding Hood Red paper underneath the Baja Breeze top layer and I used Stampin’ Up!’s new scallop punch along the bottom of the red card stock. 

 

For my image, I first inked the butterfly from the “Dreams du Jour” set in Pink Pirouette and stamped an image.  Then I inked it again in Riding Hood Red and stamped off to the side – this way I got a staggered/layered effect.  Under the image, is a 1 3/8” punched circle in Riding Hood Red and a split scallop in Baja Breeze and Pink Pirouette textured cardstock.  (If you enlarge the image you can see the detail).

 

Instead of a ribbon running across the top, I chose to use textured Baja Breeze card stock and even used a sliver of the cardstock to secure my button in place.  The kindness sentiment is from the "Heard from the Heart" stamp set (also released August 11, 2008)

Sunday, Bloody Smudgeday

IMPORTANT UPDATE:  Retiring accessories are selling out fast!  Check the list and order your most wanted items while they last. 

Do you ever spend what feels like "forever" creating a card only to have something go wrong when you are almost done?  Well, I just had this experience with my Kreation for today about 10 minutes ago. 

I was working on the Featured Stamper challenge at SCS (FS77) and happily CASE'ing this card by Julia (you may have to be a member of SCS to view the inspiration piece). 

I FINALLY broke out my paint chip samples and inked them using an upcoming release called "Dreams du Jour".  Everything was going as planned - when I then flipped my paint chip panel over to apply snail adhesive to the backside. 

After turning the panel over, I realized that the metallic, shiny surface that I just stamped upon - was now smudged!  Oh No!  I had everything else in place for the card and it was my last stop before adhering the card front to the Kraft base. 

BLAM-O ... Sunday, Bloody Smudgeday (forgive the U2 reference) I was done for the night and my stamping creativity only allowed me to semi-cover the bottom smudge with a More Mustard scallop (in keeping with the inspiration layout, of course). 

I wanted to share this card because I, like others (hopefully) have these types of stamping days.  Great inspiration, awesome ambition, yet something goes awry at the very last second.  :)

Welcome to the Hive

Ahhh... I finally got to stamp after what felt like an everlasting hiatus!  I am slowly feeling better and was able to muster up enough energy to participate in today's SCS Inspiration Challenge (IC138).  The challenge was to use website design as inspiration in your card making.

So, I selfishly chose to plug my own labor of love - Kween Bee Kreations. 

With that I say "Welcome to the Hive".  To my loyal readers, thank you for supporting me in my blogging endeavors.  To my new readers... Welcome and I hope you continue to Buzz on By!

You may notice that I did not use Stampin' Up! stamps, however I did use all Stampin' Up! inks and paper.  I went with colors (mostly) from the Rich Regals collection - including Elegant Eggplant, Handsome Hunter, Regal Rose & Summer Sun (from the Earth Elements collection).

My big bee-u-tiful bee from was stamped in Summer Sun and Basic Black craft ink.  I then drenched the queen in hologram highlights embossing powder and heat set to a glittery shine.  For this Kreation, I also incorporated SCS Sketch Challenge (SC186) and laid a piece of Summer Sun cardstock underneath my focal point and wrapped it in Whisper White narrow grosgrain ribbon.  

TIP:  I created my bee hive by using Stampin' Up!'s word window punch, gradually making each punch smaller and smaller.  I also used the "soon to be released" Stampin' Up! scallop punch along the edge and finished it  off with some striking white polka dots (courtesy of my Signo White Gel Pen).

My First Award

You’ll have to excuse me for the quick post today, I am still feeling under the weather.  I hope to be back to stamping as usual over the weekend.  Cross your fingers for me!

Diamonds are a Grizzly's Best Friend

I've been MIA for the past two days... why, you ask?  Well, my family went out to dinner Monday night to a "famous" burger shop who has a bird as their mascot.  Well, I think I got food poisoning from my favorite burger (which I may never eat again).  I've been spending the last few days in bed and out of work.   No stamping has taken place in my house since Monday evening.

The happiness sentiment also comes from a Fall-Winter release called "Heard from the Heart" and is inked in Chocolate Chip.
