I created two projects using the colors in our challenge. 

The first is a set of simple cards that show off the Holiday Lounge DSP. The second is a hanging holiday decoration. 

I love the way both turned out.

Pals Paper Arts (PPA14)

Pals Paper Arts challenge #14 is close to my heart. 

This week we'll be "In the Pink" in honor of breast cancer awareness month.  For me, this challenge is dedicated to my Mom who is battling metastatic breast cancer.

This card set was created using the Ribbon of Hope and Hope Happens stamp sets.  

The silver skinny tin houses all 4 cards and coordinating envelopes perfectly.  I used the whisper white note cards and envelopes for my card set.  They are a bit smaller than the average card - sized at 5" x 3 1/2" folded.

Cool, Curry, Christmas

Confession:  When I made this card - I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. 

But, the more I look at it, the more I like it.  Receiving lots of encouraging comments on Splitcoaststampers helped too!  :)

The SCS color combo challenge this week was Crushed Curry, Rich Razzleberry & Basic Black.

Very interesting ... don't you think? 

Looking at the colors to the left now make me think Halloween.

But when I sat down to create, I had full intentions of making a Christmas card using these colors.  I love all things modern, as I'm sure you've read here before. 

This card screams modern from the use of white space, non-traditional holiday colors - right on down to the black Christmas trees.  Yes, I said black trees.  

The tree stamp set is called Patterned Pines and can be found in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  It is a Hostess Level I stamp set - which means, you cannot buy it ... BUT you can earn it.

Delightful Decorations

Pals Paper Arts (PPA8)

Pals Paper Arts challenge number 8 is up!

This weeks challenge is a K.I.S.S. challenge (Keep it Simple, Sweetie).  We hope you'll participate in the PPA8 challenge.  On my blog, I call these types of cards Kwik & Kool.  Click the link to see more of my Kwik & Kool creations.

My simple Dasher card fits the K.I.S.S. bill perfectly, don't you think?  I'm loving this little guy... for only $8.95 - this stamp image gives you a good bang for your buck!

I disassembled a small circle red rhinestone brad to turn him into Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.  

The interior of my small note card envelope is lined with paper from the Holiday Mini Catalog called Christmas Cocoa Specialty.  Photos of this paper do not do it justice. 

 

The designer series paper contains sheets that are flocked as well as some that have a metallic design.  It coordinates with Real Red and Soft Suede.  TIP:  Print this DSP coordinating color chart.  It's a handy reference tool to keep in your stamping space.  

It's not too early to start planning ahead for the holidays!  So be sure you check out the Holiday Mini Catalog and the great holiday selections found in the 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalog.

The Little Things

I am SO glad it's a long weekend ... Not only have I been able to get some quality time with my family, I also got to play with My Digital Studio!

The card you see above was created digitally with Stampin' Up!'s new My Digital Studio software.  It will be available for purchase on October 1, 2009. 

You are going to LOVE it!

One thing I find incredibly cool about My Digital Studio - is that I can play with items normally used in "hard copy" format.  I can see myself recreating this card easily with stamps, ink & paper.

On this card, I used a print from the Sunny Day Simply Scrappin' digital kit.   Did you know you can purchase the hard copy kit in the Idea Book & Catalog (item #115700, $9.95)?

 

I used the Enjoy Every Moment digital stamp set for my sentiment.  Found in the Idea Book & Catalog (item #113662, $31.95).

 

Finally, I used a digital Butterfly Punch ... yep, there are punches in My Digital Studio, too.  As found in the Idea Book & Catalog (item #116629, $15.95).

 

While I don't own any of these products in the "hard copy" form, I now own them digitally.  All three products are included in My Digital Studio.

Isn't that cool?  Oh how the little things can make me so happy!

Work in Progress

In preparing for this weeks Pals Paper Arts Challenge, I came up with two projects. 

The one I used for my design team submission was posted yesterday.  See my scrapbook page by clicking here.  

Pictured below is a card "in progress" using the colors from the PPA6 challenge:  Brocade Blue, Crushed Curry, & Ruby Red.

When I was assembling this card, I discovered something kind of fun.  The image you see above is a photo I took before completion. 

I found that I really liked the graphic look of these colored scalloped squares paired with it's powerful sentiment.  So, I wanted to share it with you. 

Below, you'll see the completed card - which I am in love with.  I can't stop staring at it on my stamping desk. 

 

These colors may seem a bit intimidating to work with, but here's a tip - lay your ink pads next to each other, it may inspire you to create (that's what I do). 

I chose to work with a simple image, the butterfly, which for me made the color combination workable and downright beautiful.

I used the color throwdown color combo on today's card, just like I did last week.  Combining Bermuda Bay, Dusty Durango & Soft Suede was so much fun - especially when I am able to use my favorite card base, Kraft.

This card fits into my Kwik & Kool category - it's a very basic design and took only 10 minutes from start to finish.
