Pastel Pines

Continuing on with my non-traditional Christmas colors, I made this Kwik & Kool card.

If you were able to visit my blog yesterday, you will have seen my creation for the Holiday Hop using the Soft Subtle color family. 

Working with pastels is a bit of a challenge for me, because I'm more of a Bold Brights girl... but I've been having so much fun going outside my comfort zone lately.

CARD DETAILS:

• Color each pine tree with a different Stampin' Write marker
• Huff on the rubber to moisten the ink
• Stamp ink direct to paper
• Cut out each pine tree
• Stamp sentiment in coordinating color (using your stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement)
• Adhere your pines in a row
• Done - Kwik & Kool!

You'll notice that I flipped the sketch on it's side for my creation.  I also substituted square images for round ones.

Using the Love Me designer paper (currently found on the clearance rack for only $3.99) I created a non-traditional holiday card.  I have been dying to use this color combination for weeks now and I am so happy I finally got the chance to try it out.

I'm sure you'll see it around here again before the holidays are over.  I envision using the hostess level 1 set, Patterned Pines with this color combo.

Picture these pines in yummy colors such as Pretty in Pink, Taken with Teal, and Close to Cocoa.  Oh, I can't wait!  I've already made a card with these trees in Basic Black, if you missed it, check it out here.

On my PPA submission I used the set called Sweet Season and omitted parts of an image using my Stampin' Write markers.  The result ... 3 adorable holiday houses.

My submission for the design team inspiration is a simple set of Christmas Cards.  Using the theme, Christmas Cheer, I was quickly drawn to the Christmas Cocoa Specialty paper.  

There is no way to do this paper justice without seeing it in person.  You get flocked designs along with metallic accented paper. 

It is GORGEOUS!!

Now, onto the cards... I am loving the simplicity of this set.  I used the layout found at  the Clean & Simple Stamping blog.  If you follow my blog, you may notice that I am a HUGE fan of clean & simple cards. 

 

The holiday's are typically a very busy time of year for my family.  But this year, my goal is to slow down, take it all in, and enjoy the Christmas cheer with loved ones.  With my Mom's cancer and my Dad going to Iraq in January - it's going to be a bittersweet holiday.

On Being 6

My son, Devlin is 6 today.

Yesterday, we celebrated at Chuck-e-Cheese and he had a blast! 

 

Above you'll find the card I made for his big day.  Using the Build-a-Bear die I created a special birthday card for my special guy.

It's amazing how quickly the years pass by.  As he grows up I am constantly in awe of his sensitivity, his sense of humor and his intelligence.

I am a very proud Mommy to this 6 year old!  I treasure every minute with him - especially our Friday night one-on-one time.  We get dinner together and rent a movie - then he gets to sleep in Mommy & Daddy's bed (at least until Daddy is ready to sleep).  One day he'll be too embarrassed to spend time with Mommy ... so I'll cling to every second he'll give me now.

Seems like only yesterday that he looked like this.  All dressed up and drowning in his going home outfit.

Pink Treats

Using Stampin' Up!'s Two Tags Bigz Die and the Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder, I made these easy treat holders.

Each Pretty in Pink and Regal Rose tag holds a piece of gum.  A simple and sweet treat to pass out in honor of breast cancer awareness month.

I started off my project by making this pretty Night & Day Designer Paper bow.  Following this easy tutorial from splitcoastampers, I quickly completed this black & white bow.

As some of you may know, I am a designer paper hoarder.  These bows are a great project to help me actually USE my paper.  Perfect timing with my son's birthday and Christmas just around the corner.

Click to enlarge the top or bottom photo - do you see the little row of clear rhinestones on the top box?  I love that detail, I simply poked holes using my paper piercing tool and inserted a small clear rhinestone.

I'm very happy with the way this "Anything But a Card" project turned out.

Build-a-Bear BOO!

BOO!  Did this bear scare you?

I had so much fun last weekend creating some Halloween projects for the Holiday Hop.

This little project was dying to join the hop, but I decided to save it for a separate reveal. 

Using the silver tins, found in Stampin' Up!'s Clearance Rack, I created a magnetic Build-a-Bear dress up set.

This play set is fit for a boy or a girl with several mix and match options.  I created little tee's with the Build-a-Bear, Beary Essentials Bigz Die (item #117978, $23.95).  Last week, I shared with you the idea of these little tee's in this post.  

Well, ever since last Thursday, I have been thinking of ways to customize more tee's.  It was SO MUCH FUN!!

Get your hands on some of these tins today - before they're gone!  Did you see my tic-tac-bones play set using these tins?  Fun, fun, fun.  My son was drooling over my shoulder waiting to get his hands on it. 

I have more ideas in store, for example, I would like to make a custom photo frame for my desk at work.  Just have to get more time in my stamping space to create.
