Simple Sketch

Recently, my partner in Stampin' Up! crime made the move from Wisconsin to Arizona.  Boo Hoo!

Although we didn't spend much time face-to-face, I certainly miss her already.  But I do wish her the best of luck and hope to visit Arizona in the future.  I wanted to make her family a card to let them know they are in my thoughts. 

This card idea instantly came to mind when I saw last week's sketch Splitcoaststampers.com

The All in the Family stamp set is the perfect fit for this sketch.  On my card you'll see ... from top to bottom (left side), my Aunt Mary, my Uncle Scott, and my cousin Caroline.  Top to bottom (middle), you'll see their cat Mozart and the bottom circle is their dog, Isabelle. 

Finally, along the right side, you'll see images from the Loads of Love Accessories stamp set.  These little images tie this card together and have a similar "feel" as the All in the Family set.

TIP:  Use your Stampin' Write markers to isolate portions of the stamps image (see the end of my post for the full image set).  I did this with the "just moved" sentiment. 

Here's how:  Ink up the word "just" with the marker, stamp it on your cardstock, then clean your rubber.  Ink up the word "moved!" with the marker,  and stamp it on your cardstock.   With a few punches of the 1" circle and 1 1/4" circle punch, you'll be rockin' this card.  So easy, right?

Don't overlook that Tall Tales designer series paper I used on the card front.    Simply adorable - but also grown up at the same time.  Everything is mounted to my favorite (and in my opinion, most versatile) card base - Kraft cardstock.

Count 'em ... 1, 2, 3, 4

I love the result of this clean and simple card (CAS).  The ironic thing is that it took me 4 stamp sets to achieve this look. 

Anyone care to guess what 4 sets I used?  Find out at the end of this post (no peeking!)  HINT:  These little party hats are meant to be "worn" on another part of the body.

Splitcoaststampers was where I found inspiration for this card.  The CAS challenge for today was to create a birthday card.  If you've never created a clean and simple card, I highly recommend trying it out. 

To date, I think my best cards have been what I call Kwik & Kool. 

Short post for today because I want time to browse my catalog.  I have yet to press the order button because I'm trying hard to choose only the items I REALLY love.

Pink Flamingo Picnic

Pink Flamingo designer series paper (DSP) made the cut and is in the 2009 - 2010 Idea Book & Catalog!  Woo-Hoo!

Yesterday afternoon I had some time to play, so I broke out Lauren Meader's Pack a Picnic Template.  I made these two adorable baskets using Kraft cardstock,  Tempting Turquoise cardstock, and Pink Flamingo DSP.

My son goes to Kindergarten in the Fall.  These picnic baskets would make the perfect packaging to house a small thank you gift for his daycare teacher. 

Making projects like these is something I really enjoy.  I LOVE being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator because it allows me to support my stamping and scrapbooking hobby.

A few days ago ...

On my 35th birthday, I find myself looking back through the years ...

After careful reflection, the question that comes to mind is:  What was I thinking in high school with that hair?  Well, all I can say is that was the "in thing" back then.  LOL.  I'm now much more comfortable in a short "do".

Voilà

I have added a new stamp set to my collection ... called Voila. 

This fun chef has a platter that can hold just about anything.  You can see the full set at the end of this post - also note that there is an extender set for purchase called "Voila to Go" (item #11504).

For my card, I used the Tart & Tangy set to put a giant apple on his platter.  Thought it would add a bit of whimsy and would also be a fun birthday card for a teacher.  NOTE:  When stamping - you have free reign to stamp however you please.  I realize this apple isn't proportional in size to Mr. Chef, but that's what makes it fun! 

I'll be celebrating my own birthday on July 5.  Every year, it's like 4th of July fireworks are going off just for me.  :)  Hope you have a great holiday weekend.

This card was inspired by a recent purchase of mine.  I found this bright floral bag and instantly fell in love.
